The American Public University System has knocked it out of the park! We spoke to Marissa Smith, CampusGuides Project Manager, about how their Online Library
uses CampusGuides & LibAnswers to provide stellar support to their community!
CampusGuides is a major player in supporting the university's asynchronous, e-classroom environment. Not only are they creating guides in support of every degree program,
but also in support of every course! Marissa tells us "This project is a tall order, but we're making it become a reality with the innovative features in CampusGuides."
In order to make this wealth of information easier to navigate, they're organizing their guides using CampusGuides' group functionality and subject functionality.
APUS also relies on LibAnswers to help them serve their students and faculty. Marissa writes, "LibAnswers is a natural complement to the way we handle reference services...
it allows us to deal with repeat questions efficiently by allowing students to find answers independently, while directing unique and more challenging questions on to the
librarians for individual attention." It's been such a success that it has grown to incorporate repository information from other campus entities outside the library - their
LibAnswers system now contains information about electronic course materials and the university's new learning management system in addition to library information.
Marissa has found that "the Springshare group of products...allows the librarians to effectively work individually and collectively, outside the traditional office work environment."
